About Us

East River Alpacas is owned and operated by Patrick and Helen Dishaw.  Pat is a native New Yorker and works for Kodak.  Helen is from England and works  for the Seneca Park Zoo.  Helen is also certified as a Veterinary Assistant, and works as an equine caretaker.

Our small family run farm is located in Western NY in the town of Rush.    We are extremely close to Rochester between Syracuse and Buffalo, with quick, easy access from I-90.  If you would like to come visit us click for directions

East River Alpacas began with the motto  "quality rather than quantity"  and that is how we have, and will continue.  We are not the biggest farm around but we are proud to say that we raise some of the finest quality alpacas in the country.  In both the animals that we purchase for our foundation herd, and the offspring we offer for sale, highest quality is of paramount importance to us.

There are both huacaya and suri alpacas on our farm. Our breeding program is focused on Peruvian bloodlines, in particular the  exclusive Accoyo lineWe have rare full-Accoyo suris as well as partial Accoyo, and full Peruvian suris and huacayas, in white and color.

East River Alpacas is also home to Bear, Panda, both Newfoundland dogs, Taffy, our cat and Darcy the Shire horse.
