Your suri girls will thank you, (and you will thank yourself), for considering up-coming suri herdsire
Peruvian Durango for your breeding program! Please allow us to introduce Durango to you - remember
his name - he is the herdsire of the future!
Durango is still enjoying the joys of youth, but he is looking forward to a future paved in gold! (Or
should that be "blue", as in the ribbons his sure-to-be-outstanding crias will be taking in the showring.)
Durango is just finishing his first show season as a juvenile/yearling multiple blue ribbon and multiple
championship winner. He won championships against, not only his own color, but also much lighter colors.
With his perfectly consistent matchstick locks, blinding luster, great fleece density, outstanding
confirmation, incredible presence, and phenomenal head, his beautiful look speaks for itself ... but here are
comments from some respected suri judges...
"… best suri alpaca at the show…"
"… excellent coverage, lock structure is really one to have a look at. If you really
want to see a great suri with locking and luster all in one package this is the boy to
have a look at. He is beautiful, and very well deserving of that first place ribbon…"
" … he does stand a long way above the rest of the alpacas in his class…"
Judge Jude Anderson, 2003 North American Alpaca Show
"...this alpaca is the complete package..."
"...it is unusual to see such incredible luster in an alpaca this dark in color..."
Judge Amanda Vandenbosch, 2003 PAOBA Breeder's Showcase
"an outstanding, outstanding male. Nice, tight, dense lock throughout his whole body and down
his legs... just an outstanding male
."
Judge Lavona Fercho, 2003 Big E
"
... standing in first place is just the total package..."
"... a lot of substance in the fleece... showing luster from the skin clear down the staple...
coverage down to the ground... just a really lovely animal..."
"...definitely going to be a herdsire..."
Judge Mike Safley, 2003 Empire Extravaganza
Durango's micron count is 19.7 - considering his dark color this is just outstanding! The percentage of
fibers over over 30 microns is only 2. 3% - this boy has fine and consistent fleece. It must be pointed out
here that in order to have an accurate judgement on the consistency of his fiber the test sample was taken
from all across his side - including front shoulder, blanket and rear thigh, not just from one spot - which makes it all the more impressive.
If you take a look at Durango's pedigree, it is easy to see why he is the 'talk of the town' with breeders
and Judges alike. He carries Accoyo genetics from both of his parents - his dam is a high-quality
full Accoyo (at age 7 her micron count is still only 25.8, and her coverage and confirmation excellent). His
sire is the much accredited Peruvian Macgyver. Durango has been labeled, (by other respected Suri
breeders), as Macgyver's finest offspring to date... it has even been said that he is in fact that much-dreamed-of improvement on his sire!
So keep an eye on this boy as he continues to grow... and get your girls ready - you WILL want to be the
proud owner of one of Durango's blue-ribbon cria!!!!!
